FAQs

  • I can’t listen to the recording that I made, it's silent, what do I do?

Please check your microphone settings and try to re-record your name after adjusting the microphone settings. These settings will be different for different systems. Please ask your systems admin, if you need assistance with your device microphone settings. After you re-record, please playback your name to check.

  • What are the different types of recordings?

You will find three types of recordings in the NameCoach outlook add-in. It is displayed based on the source of the recording.

Library recordings - These are names which are provided by the NameCoach database.

Owner Recording - This is a self-recording provided by the name owner.

Peer recording - This recording is provided by someone in your peer community or organization.

  • I don’t have access to the ‘request names feature’. How do I get access to this?

The request names feature, or any other feature is controlled at an organization level and will be available if it’s available to your organization. Please contact your company admin for more information.

  • I am unable to record my name, what do I do?

You might need to allow access to your microphone, so it enables you to create a recording within the NameCoach outlook add-in.  If you are still unable to record from within the add-in, you can record your name using another program and NameCoach can help you upload it.

  • What does the “Request a pronunciation” icon do?

If the NameCoach database does not have a particular name in their database, then you can use the plane icon to send a request to the NameCoach team to add this pronunciation to the database. Please note that names get added periodically in our database so it will not be available immediately.

  • In the pronunciation section, I often see abbreviations such as EN, HI and more in the drop-down menu. What is that?

These are NameCoach library recordings in different languages/dialects. They are recorded by professional voice actors.
